Headers for Condensers

I'm building replacement headers for 2 rooftop condensers , they are for med temp rack systems approx 250.000 BTU each , My question is How important is it that the Header is the same size as discharge line / drop leg line.
discharge is 2 5/8 header is 2 1/8.

thanks max v

Re: Headers for Condensers

Not really my area of expertice, but I have done headered piping for residential and light commercial applications where I have installed multiple indoor coils to a singular condensing unit. I don't see where the header itself need be a specific size. Size according to the needs to make it work and decrease to the line size to connect.
