CVHA 032 starter chatter
I have a Trane CVHA 032 that I have been sevicing for about 15 years and recently it has developed a chatter with the K27 starter upon startup. I have checked all relater wiring, changed all relays related to it pulling in,rebuilt the stater,as well as replacing the starter. It will only chatter on the initial startup, and if it is started more than once in a short period of time it will not chatter at all. Anyone ever have this issue??

Re: CVHA 032 starter chatter
Check for lower than normal voltage energizing the contactor. I sounds like that is the problem from what you describe. A voltage drop across a relay or bad wire connection. I would disconnect the compressor from the start and run contactors (assuming a Y-Delta) to facilitate continous retries without damaging the compressor. Thus you will be able to locate where the fault lies.....
