I am a contractor in Michigan. I hate to start my first post with a complaint, but I am looking for other contractors to come together to fight the loss of work due to unlicensed personnel at schools, apartments, management companies etc. I have called the State Mechanical numerous times and they tell me they cannot do anything unless someone files a complaint. Hogwash. If they were to catch me doing work without a permit I could loose my license and be fined. They pretend they don't know its going on. I cannot compete with illegitimate business who do not pay comp, liability, some do not even have auto insurance. Then you have some wholesale houses selling out the back door to them. I am fed up.
