Re: What would you like to see?
What about a sub forum for Anhydrous Ammonia, I know I could get a ton of associates and colleagues to join if you had such favorable material.

Re: What would you like to see?
I still think we need a forum dedicated to hot chicks.

Re: What would you like to see?
A DIY category would be great. I will remain professional.

Re: What would you like to see?
DIY catagories are tough. It's bad enough trying to relate to what HVAC knowledge professionals may have.
I have seen some really beautiful DIY work with HVAC systems over the years. Why have I seen them? Because they were not working properly. There was a Star Trek episode once where a childlike god character sort of kidnapped some of the Enterprise crew members. This character could create the most beautiful flowers and most appealing looking food dishes, but did not understand the complete function of these things. The flowers had no fragrance and the food had no taste. Likewise it can go with DIY HVAC work. Someone outside of the industry can copy what a system should "look" like, but completely miss the point of how it needs to function. |

Re: What would you like to see?
I think you are absolutely right. Lets forget about the DIY category then.

Re: What would you like to see?
How about a forum for products that make a job easier? I'm thinking about new products not commonly in use yet or existing products being used in different ways.
For example, the driving force behind the Goliath type of auxilliary drain pans was installers using pump ups in drain pans to set the air handler of furnace on for horriblezontal installs. That idea led to getting rid of pump ups for their intended purpose under heat pumps. Now, we can buy a one piece heat pump pad just like we can buy a one piece drain pan that supports the units up out of the pan. Putting insulation on refrigerant tubing before installing the line led to pre-insulated line sets (OK, I for one don't like them, but most installers do). The forum could be used for innovative and time saving techniques used. I teach my contractors to set up the dip switches on control boards before the unit gets sent to the job. It's a lot easier doing this on a shop bench or the back of a truck or van then it is after the unit is installed. |

Re: What would you like to see?
How about a category named, 'Tips 'n Tricks of the Trade', discussing special ways of making job easier and better.

Re: What would you like to see?
That's indeed a really good suggestion. Would like to see some similar threads here.
