Went to the drags last weekend

Anybody Else like drag racing.
Hvaclover I dont mean guys in dresses running down the sidewalk!
Went to the races in Norwalk OH this last Weekend with my Dad.
Man that never gets boring.
If you have never been to an NHRA race, you need to go.
Go to a national event where Top Fuel cars are running!
You have never seen or heard anything like it.
500 cubic inches
8000 horsepower
9000-11000 foot pounds of touque
20 gallons of nitromethane to go 1320 feet in 4 seconds!
Awesome display of human reaction and technology!

Re: Went to the drags last weekend

I had my own little drag car back in the day, a 67 barracuda with a 426 hemi, it was all I could do at times to keep it on the road.

Re: Went to the drags last weekend

I had a 66 Baracuda with a slant six

As for drag racing, I used to go with a buddy of mine to Cecil County dragway in Maryland. He had a race only Chevy Nova he raced. Seemed pretty boring to me until the day they called trophy day. I entered my stock VW and won a 24-1/4" high trophy for being first in my class....of which there was no others All I had to do is to not beat my time trials for the race run, in which I was paired with a homemade dragster which also was the only one in it's class. I was just shifting into second gear when I saw the chute from the dragster open.

That had to be a blast. What did you clock, like a 24 or something?

I believe it was 23. something. I know that it felt like forever to finish and I could see the bored looks on the faces of those in the stands.

Didn't matter to me, I got my trophy. I heard one evidently die hard racer make a comment about drag racer wannabes coming in on trophy day. Kinda cracked me up since I had no desire to race. Hey, I didn't make up the rules that allowed me to walk away with that trophy
