Re: Laid off
Thats a terrible thing, are you in a union? Around here everyone I know who works in the union are laid off almost as much as they are working and now its getting even worse. I have never been in a union and also have never been laid off but once when i was a rookie, and I volunteered to be laid off, so I could enjoy some down time and let another co-worker who had a family to support, keep working, as I was single with very little responsibilties back then!

Re: Laid off
I am Union and this is only the second time I have been laid off since 1986. The last time was right after I won an arguement over billable and payable hours with the boss. I won and lost at the same time. His shop is down to one man now so, I can't say he really won much.

Re: Laid off
I am looking foward to this winter. A/C is a luxury and customers can do without. Heat is a necessity they are going to call and get repaired. We always do much better in the winter. I have 6 or 7 of our trucks empty sitting in our parking lot. It is a sick feeling the trucks sitting there every morning. We have been getting more and more furnace start up and cleaning requests every day. I hope it continues and get as cold a a witches t!! I need to put people back in the trucks and get back to business. Hears hoping for a cold winter.

Re: Laid off
Well, I have had two interviews through my local, both way farther than I would really want to drive daily but I would take them just the same.
I just got back from a week of job hunting in Virginia. What a difference in attitude of the people just three hundred miles south of home. I need to move back below the Mason Dixon, yeah I was born a redneck. |
