OSHA Safety Training
How many of you guys have gone through OSHA safety training? When I worked as a construction manager at Lennar Homes I had to go through safety training and it was worth the time spent.

I'm one of the guys that gives the training. I must admit though that it's 10 of the most mind numbing hours you will ever spend

Yea, it can be mind numbing but I find a lot of training can be that way. Most of the time you even know 90% of what's being taught and it can seem like a waste of time... but those few things you learn can save your life or someone elses.

That 10% you learned that day might save your buttocks.

Safety training is essential! I once saved a fellow tech from having whole face burned off when he started to open an access cover on a 350,000,000 BTUH gas fired hot water boiler while it was firing! It could have been a catastropy had I not seen him going for it, before it was too late!

Yes I do tons of training in this area. I get lots of feed back about how injuries were avoided.

My local has a requirement that eveyone has the OSHA 10 cert. and many guys myself included have taken the OSHA 30. Some of the GCs require that anyone working on their site has to sit through their Safety class and watch a series of videos depending on the trade they are subbing.

OSHA Safety Training
I'm currently working for one of the larger commercial airlines, it seems only the supervisors are allowed to go to these seminars. I do however hold a CPR certification, which I would highly recommend to everyone in this field, seeing how we are exposed to electrified equipment. You never know, the life you save may be your own!

I think any required training should be paid for by the company. Fair is fair, they make money off your back.

No doubt about it, any safety training is good training.
I'm sure that the OSHA training is very well done and beneficial. Unfortunately, when I think of OSHA (and the Maryland local version MOSHA), I think of sneaky inspectors looking for ways to fine me for stupid things my employees did. I've been fined for one guy using a ladder that he repaired a broken leg on and one guy who had an extension cord on the job with no ground plug (it wasn't even plugged in and I handed out plug adapters like candy so no one had an excuse to break off the ground).
Good to see OSHA being proactive.

350,000,000 BTU boiler that is pretty big by today's standards What size gas line on that puppy ? 24 feet ?
I've had a lot of that training, basically just don't be an idiot and stay away from the ones that are.
