ASX14 - charge through the head vs manifold

I have this fieldpiece head and find it is useful for checking the SH or SC either directly from head to low or high sides. I usually run it through the manifold gauge to compare the results of the gauge vs. the manual method of pressure charts etc.

Question: fieldpiece states on the box it is a charging kit. I called and they told me it does not calculate the SH or SC in real time as refrigerant is added or recovered. Why then would you charge through the ASX14 and just not charge through the manifold gauge. In this case it is easier!
I see no advantage to using it for this application.

If you have suggestions for use of the gauge that I am over looking, please enlighten me.

Thanks
